Marketer Readiness Playbook
NAVIGATING THE PRIVACY, DATA, & IDENTITY LANDSCAPE
Growing privacy scrutiny, regulations, and platform (Apple, Google, others) policies are reshaping digital advertising. Changes of this magnitude mean tactical shifts to patch holes are no longer sufficient. Marketers, publishers, and everyone in between must reset advertising – and even broader marketing – strategies.
To help you navigate these impacts and opportunities, ThinkMedium offers a Readiness Strategy Program. Our deep expertise and industry engagement empower you to focus on your core business while protecting and improving return on ad spend.
Marketer Readiness Playbook
Our Program now includes a Marketer Readiness Playbook, which methodically outlines the questions and steps you (as a marketer or agency) can take to identify gaps in your current strategies, processes, and solutions related to ongoing data- and identity-related shifts.

(The Publisher Readiness Playbook, which was the first Readiness Program offering, is also relevant for marketers who directly engage consumers online via sites, apps, etc.)
Readiness Review Framework & Example Output
ThinkMedium’s Readiness Review Framework informs the structure of the Marketer Playbook and our broader Readiness offerings:

Readiness Review Example Output
The Playbook steps through the Framework, providing questions for consideration, and then provides a high-level example evaluating readiness for two advertising use cases:

Readiness Review Checklist
The Playbook concludes with a checklist (abbreviated version below) to help marketers get started with a self-assessment:
- Gather existing internal plans and documentation.
- Define a cross-functional team from in-house staff, vendors, and agency partners.
- Get/Stay current on the landscape of risks/opportunities caused by privacy shifts; understand milestones and their implications.
- For each at-risk implementation, both in-house and via agencies/partners: (a) define current revenue scope, (b) develop “business-as-usual” forward-looking revenue/cost impact estimates, and (c) identify alternative solutions, partners, and strategies that can mitigate impacts and assess costs.
- Develop a testing and implementation plan, including key solutions, partners, and technologies + timelines, resources, and funding.
- Develop a monitoring framework to track impact mitigation to your business.
- Optimize your organization and communicate changes to agencies and other partners.
The Playbook also includes a complementary checklist for agencies.
