About ThinkMedium

Deep expertise built from inside the ads and media ecosystem.

ThinkMedium provides advisory services to companies across the advertising and media industry (and even beyond) to help them revamp strategies, solutions, and operating practices and meet the evolving set of market forces that continue to reshape the ecosystem.

When industry veteran Dennis Buchheim founded the firm in 2023, he and the team identified privacy, brand and consumer safety, and business and ecological efficiency as timely priorities. ThinkMedium now focuses on helping ads and media clients activate data sustainably, adapt to AI and agentic workflows, and increase their business’ efficiency.

Dennis Buchheim

CEO & Founder

Dennis founded ThinkMedium to pursue his ongoing mission to ensure digital content and services remain freely accessible. He is a collaborative, product-oriented leader who has built and managed teams to define, launch, and manage large-scale products/programs in digital advertising and beyond.

In his almost 25 years working in advertising technology and media, Dennis has led teams that pioneered transitioning from reserved, managed-service to programmatic models, via in-house product development (demand-side platforms, ad exchanges, targeting and identity platforms, and more) and partnerships (e.g., the 2010 Microsoft-AppNexus deal). He has also long advocated responsible, transparent, and sustainable data-driven advertising, speaking globally at a range of industry events.

Why is the firm named ThinkMedium?

  • We focus on the Ads and Media (“mediums”) Ecosystem.
  • We facilitate a thought leadership medium among our clients and team.
  • Medium-sized, pragmatic ideas that are well executed are often the best path to success (vs. grandiose bets carrying high risk).
  • Most companies overly focus on the short term, sometimes with (disjointed) long-term aspirations. The medium-term is the sweet spot that can drive enduring success if given the attention it warrants.
  • And…our founder is a fan of puns!
